When My Mantle was born in the upstairs of the drummers' parents house, it was in some ways a very different thing than it is now, but for the most part what continues to drive its engine on to this day has stayed consistent since the beginning. What that is simply is a unified love of music, each individuals pursuit of a closer walk with the Lord God, and a desire to share both of these things with the world. The band has definitely been faced with its share of trials, all of which have only resulted in driving the band on to achieve their goals and dreams. They’ve gone through numerous member changes and try outs to reach the line-up they have now. It all started with just guitarist Chancelor Reeder, and drummer Jordan Peters, who hardly knew each other, collaborating on what was then called “song 1”. Even a humble beginning such as this would never have come about if it weren‘t for that consistent driving force: Love of music, pursuit of God. Shortly after presenting “song 1” to original and current bassist Tyler Nobes, Tyler had soon joined the band, realizing the potential for something musically fresh and unique. These three original (and current) members formed the core of what would stay the same in the ever-changing line-up to come. Since then they have gone through the changing position of rhythm guitarist, and the try-outs of at least 6 or 7 main vocalists. All the while writing all sorts of music that always varied stylistically from song to song. This soon became the writing style that would stick then and still works now which is that: each song is written with whatever that song calls for. The structure of the song came out part by part. This would sometimes result in a traditional verse-chorus feel, or just abide by a feel and structure of its own. Some songs may get stuck in your head, and some may take you on a musical and emotional journey. Through the process of all these things they landed on a lineup that included the original three core members Chancelor, Tyler, and Jordan, with the addition of guitarist Jon Arcouette, and vocalist Mike Finch. Having the musical frame already pretty laid out for a debut EP, all it took was some additional writing from the two new members Jon and Mike, to be ready to record this project. The result was finally able to come about with thousands of dollars from the bands own pocket, the support of their loving families, and countless hours of work recording and mixing with the help of producer Neil Engle. The result is what is now called the “Giants EP” and it is now soon to be available on iTunes and many other digital distributors.
