Along with their foundation of guitar and drums, this Los Angeles duo utilizes live looping, synthesizers, and samples to add more texture, ambience and bass to their unique sound. Derek Donley (drums, vocals, and synth) and Darin Tambascio (guitar, keys, and vocals) create music that ranges anywhere from ambient soundscapes and melodic synth passages to dissonant metal and powerful screams…sometimes in one song. Audiences have compared the band to a diverse array of artists including Botch, Don Caballero, Failure, Hella, Jesu, Kay Dot, Neurosis and Zombi.
National Sunday Law’s first full length album La Storia di Cannibali was self recorded in 2008 with help from Alex Pasco and mastered by Colin Marston from Behold…The Arctopus and Dysrhythmia. The album also features guest vocals by Intronaut’s Sacha Dunable. In April of 2010, the band released a new EP titled The Fifth Ape via free download. The album features Joe Lester of Intronaut on one track and the hard copy will soon be released through Saw Her Ghost records.
