Nicky Click is a producer songwriter and video artist based out of Olympia, WA. The Nicky Click is the physical manifestation of one woman who focused on capturing, preserving, and making into song, the experiences and feelings of those who passed through her world. She has been described as a Sexy, fun, dreamy, mysterious queer based out of Olympia,WA.
Her inventive style of electro-synth pop is much more than meets the eye. Upon closer inspection the songs unravel into simple stories based around feminist ideals, mixed with simple emotions and queer politics. Nicky Clicks music encompass an experience of magic and pureness, childlike simplicity and near aloof harmlessness.
She will pursue her artistic future with a great personal need to make feelings accessible and to connect with audiences through honesty. As a result she will challenge assumptions around the pre-assumed roles associated with audience and performer.
Her music, art and being strives to make others aware of the internalized unconscious roles in which we categorize and limit women. Like so many women she is a coin with two sides, living a dynamic life full of multiple characters and roles, needs and desires, caught between pleasing others and herself, and the challenge of weaving them all together into one- The Nicky Click.
Her album "You're Already a member," which features SCREAMCLUB, and CHRIS SUTTON (COCO, Dub Narcotic Sound System) will be released on hot independent collective record label CRUNKS NOT DEAD, which was founded by all female queer electro hip hop band SCREAMCLUB.
She Toured Europe and opened for Lady Sovereign in 2005, and has shared stages with The Blow, Gravy Train, StinkMitt, Grand Buffet, Anna Oxygen, why? of the Anticon Collective, Tender Forever, Scream Club, JenRo, Katastrophe, Veronica Lipgloss, Tricotic and Nomy Lamm, Busdriver, and many others. Her music videos played at The Seattle Queer Film Festival, several Ladyfests around the world, Mania TV, The Flaming Film Festival, Wonderground TV and many others.
She has performed in diverse environments, including the Rockrgrrl festival in Seattle, The Musicfest NW in Portland, The Seattle Queering Femininity Conference, Austin’s South By Southwest, The Seattle Bend it festival, The Vancouver, BC pride festival and Ladyfest Olympia.
She has spread her wings:
She was named featured new artist of the month on Portland, OR all girl radio station, Church of Girl, and is currently a featured artist on the electrocore music web site, as well as the british music site, nascentzine. Her song "At Least I Tried" was featured on The Crunks Not Dead Olympia Music Compalation album, and she had three live recordings featured on the Olympia club "Le Voyeur" music comp. She was featured on the Screamclub album "Don't Bite your Sister," and the "Entertain me" track is featured on Minneapolis radio compellation"Aim For The Head."
She also Recently finished recording a song with queer hip hop artists Katastrophe (Bay Area) Macromantics (Australia) and producer shaggy manatie from quakeTrap records (Bay area).
Nicky Click has had her music videos played on Mania TV,the Seattle queering femininity conference, Ladyfest San Diego and Olympia, The Flaming FilmFest (Minneapolis), electrcocore.com and London's Pottymouth night. Locally she has shown her work at Thurston County Television, as well as during several events with The Olympia Film Society at The Capital Theatre.
