Christopher Petersen is an experimental musician from Portland, Oregon. His percussive, spacey loops are drawn from an image of “many different sized gears turning simultaneously,” manifesting a technical influence almost akin to clockwork.
Originally under the moniker “Pacific Patterns,” Petersen began performing at small venues around the Oregon Coast. Upon his move to Portland, he began playing house shows and collaborating with local artists Plankton Wat and Lady Shapes. He often experiments with pedals, guitar, drums, piano, and vocals and includes musical elements from artists like Atlas Sound and Explosions in the Sky.
Combining progressive, math rock and psychedelic drones, Petersen creates an evocative, somewhat puzzling convergence of influences. Amid adaption and innovation of his environment, Petersen maintains his roll as a musical oddity of the Pacific Northwest.
