Prelude to a Pistol is an Alternative Rock Group based out of Seattle, Washington.
While Prelude To A Pistol is easily passed off as Hard Rock, there are more dynamics at play than it may seem to the casual listener. Prelude to a Pistol effortlessly weaves a sound strictly their own, utilizing many different genres, styles and techniques.
Every time 26 year old Vocalist and Songwriter Ray Clark belts out the words he has written in times of profound pain, anger, love, sarcasm or isolation, it comes across as if it was the first time he dared ever let the very words he sings and the raw emotion they convey, fall from his lips.
As he crawls around on a stage with a look of such intimidating ferocity, he can just as quickly crumble to that floor and let everyone catch a glimpse of the tortured soul that lives in all of us.
Clark is strong yet flamboyant, cocky yet entirely too fragile. A very old soul in a body too young. It's this dichotomy that makes him such an amazing front man, one that everyone can relate to.
One of two founding members of P2AP, Lee Tillman is known in Seattle as being one of the very best hard rock guitarists out there. This is a long standing reputation, even in during Seattle's Grunge and Post Grunge Explosions. Capable of moving back and forth between rhythms that are raw and chunky, to crisp leads, he brings with him the old and the new school, which is almost entirely lacking in modern rock as we now know it.
Jyri Glynn is an electric violinist and the other founder of P2AP. As a matter of fact, Tillman and Glynn have been playing in rock bands together for 14 years.
A force to be reckoned with on stage, Jyri's style holds true to the dynamic of the band in general. His ability to make a violin sound like a guitar, to make it angry, violent and frenzied is coupled with an impressive ability to make the instrument cry in such a way that compliments Clark’s song writing perfectly. Glynn also has the ability to play with a sense of whimsy. You often catch yourself wondering if he's just winging it, and often times, he is. His work is always fresh and new yet never forced. Regardless of how he chooses to play live, every choice he makes works exactly as he intended.
Daemon Chadeau plays a great bass, topping off the rhythm section and assuring that there is never a shallow moment or a lapse in intensity.
Nate Butler makes the band complete with clean drum beats that never waver. He doesn't do flashy, he does it right. Butler is the heartbeat of P2AP.
P2AP has recently headlined at The Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle, WA and has already opened for Nationals such as The Dreaming, (formerly known as Stabbing Westward.
Their second show ever was at Seattle's famous Neumo's, where they played to a close to sold out venue.
On June 1, 2013, P2AP packed Studio7 for their CD Release Party and are already gearing up for their first West Coast Tour.
This Seattle band has a sound that is deep and lush with lyrics that are violent, sad, seductive, visceral and brooding. Many of those adjectives are themselves, often times, emotions at play in human nature that bring about the "Prelude to a Pistol".
The band encapsulates so much of these raw emotions and spits them in your face, while all the while remaining radio ready, radio friendly and extremely catchy.
P2AP is often compared to bands such as Old Evans Blue, COLD, Alice in Chains and Red, fused with very prominent Punk and Goth Rock Influences such as The Mission UK, The Fields of the Nephilim and Bad Religion.
P2AP is hard hitting, yet melodic and accessible, a collage of disparate sounds to be enjoyed by any rock enthusiast.
Prelude's Debut CD, "Not Sorry" is available at www.riverotterrecords.com, CD Baby, Amazon and iTunes.
