There are three artists by this name:
1) The Psalms were formed after Doug Fry and Jim Swafford quit Moral Majority. Doug and Bill decided to start another band, again with Jim Swafford. Alan Long was recruited to play drums, and The Psalms were born.
The Psalms had a brief hiatus in 1983, when Bill decided to quit the band, due to musical conflicts with Doug. Months later, the two patched up their differences, and reformed the band. Jim Swafford declined rejoining, and was replaced by Richard Flower, who had been part of the original Moral Majority before being replaced by Swafford. With the new line up, the band recorded their No Great Cathedral E.P which Doug was almost immediately unhappy with, despite the it providing The Psalms with their first real media attention.
Due to internal conflicts between band members, and Doug's unhappiness to the direction the band was taking, The Psalms broke up again in late 1984, this time for good.
The songs listed here are just the tip the iceberg. In the early days of the Psalms, they had 22 songs, of which 20 were written solely by Doug. The list certainly goes way beyond what is listed here.
2) A roots reggae group better known as The Gayladds, Maurice Roberts, Thaxter & Thaxter, featured on the Impact! compilation with the track "Rolling Stone".
3) Psalms perform music for the open-minded and are busy creating a loyal fan base for their refreshing new sound. The Psalms experience is already creating an addictive frenzy between the diverse group of fans that enjoy their music and live performances; it is quite unique unlike anything else you’ve ever heard. Inspiration is taken from rock, dance, funk and industrial music to create a unique mix.
Psalms has taken their home town of Bath by storm and are now reaching further a field to build on their already established following. Live performances in Gloucester, Birmingham and Bristol. Incubus Sukkubus and Vlad in Tears are just 2 of the bands Psalms have supported.
Psalms music is a true expression of all the band members, it is a rock band but with a progressive shift towards electro and techno music. The band members have different musical influences; together they are able to blend their sound, a bit like a musical smoothie! It is Rage Against the Machine meets Rammstein and Muse meets Nine Inch Nails. The band consists of Tom Goblin (lead vocal and guitar), Goblin confesses to having "an obsessive dedication" towards his love of music. Other band members are Jethrow (bass) Tom Samson (keyboards) and Les '12 inch' Preston (drums).
You can expect more than you’re expecting at a Psalms gig. Psalms have a very powerful live set, they are truly incredible, they manage to seduce the unconverted with more sensitive songs like Her Eyes. When they switch mood to songs like Meat Eater and Easy it is with outrageous effect, setting the pit off and making the place buzz with excitement.
Psalms is not just a band it’s an experience!
4) A four-piece band from Norwich, including the three members of the now-defunct Fever Fever.
