railcars is aria jalali; his project was formed when asked to support handsome furs briefly on tour in 2007. his first release came in 2008 as an EP consisting of five pop songs titled, "Cities Vs. Submarines", which was recorded/produced by xiu xiu's jamie stewart. In 2009, the release was followed up by a self-produced, experimentally-recorded concept EP: "Cathedral With No Eyes"
While his recorded pop songs are just him, his live show incorporates various rotating members, and often includes live visuals. Both of the original railcars EP's were supported by extensive live tours in 2008 and again in 2009, throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Upon returning from Europe in early 2010, Jalali released a remix album, which featured remixes of 'cathedral with no eyes' tracks by artists such as xiu xiu, lucky dragons, no age, white rainbow, jeans wilder, and more as a free-to-download mixtape, and announced intentions to cover Kate Bush's 1985 album "Hounds of Love" in its entirety via Kickstarter.com in a project that was successfully funded in March of 2010.
A year later, on March 1, 2011, Jalali released an album as gypsy treasures via Los Angeles label Not Not Fun, entitled "Buried Goods," in addition to announcing that his "Hounds of Love" cover album had been completed and would be released in the summer on vinyl and cassette.
