Since relocating to Oregon, Sam has performed regularly as a solo act, taken local stages as a bassist with Invisible Rockets, and toured nationally as a banjoist/etc with Horse Feathers.
Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Sam began writing, playing, and recording music as a teenager. Up until his departure, he performed in the Denver area as part of numerous bands, fronting the electric power trio Francophone and the folk orchestra The Body Electric in addition to playing guitar in other groups.
He left Colorado on a West Coast tour with the hyper-pop outfit team AWESOME! on New Years Day 2007, and along the way dropped off the bulk of his earthly possessions at a Craigslist-derived sublet in Portland. He proceeded to get involved with as many musical projects as he could handle, while focusing on developing himself as singular musical entity.
In August of 2007, Sam self-recorded "Murray Manor", a fifteen song album done on four-track and named after the SE Portland apartment building in which it was created. The album includes fourteen irreverently reverent original tunes and one Raffi cover. He produced one hundred copies on semi-fictional label Oh Whales Records and held a rollicking CD-release show Nov 17 at Sound Grounds. He intends to professionally produce at least one other full-length album in 2008 , continue to perform in all his various capacities, and learn origami.
