The Soda Boys, formed in 2008, is a collective of like minded creative individuals from the worlds of music, art, photography and fashion which counts among its members Fizzgod the Robot, Smith the Mr, Black Fantastic, Schweppes Incorporated, Mountain Jew, Liquid Disco and Rembo. It’s more of a movement than a group, and one that will ebb and flow as it grows and gathers new talent from across the arts with the common goal of enabling its members to express themselves. ‘Everybody Cha Cha’ is the brilliant debut single by the Soda Boys. Featuring the legendary Dave from De La Soul on vocals, alongside newcomer Smith the Mr, it’s an infectious slice of Jaxx-influenced pop-house with a bumping B-line and booty vocal that quite literally drag you onto the dancefloor - the perfect summer slam. The collective already has a number of hugely gifted up and coming DJ’s and MCs and ‘Everybody Cha Cha’ is the first musical offering. All music is produced by L.A.D. and Smith the Mr. The latter is also an artist in his own right and something of a recluse. He sends the music and vocals via the internet from his studio mansion. A representative attends interviews complete with an attaché case containing a phone on which Smith the Mr answers the questions via his representative. The art and fashion side is the domain of Black Fantastic and Rembo who will work closely with artists, photographers and designers on various interesting and creative collaborations.
