2. Start Today was an experimental punk-rock band formed in 2001 in the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. After some early line-up changes the band consisted of Slade Lellock on bass guitar and vocals, Jordan Shirey on rhythm guitar and vocals, Lee Elkin on lead guitar, and Phil Limerick on drums and vocals.
The band originally started with a purely punk rock sound. In 2002 they released their first EP, entitled “From This Day Forward.” This was followed up by the 2003 full length “Hopes, Headaches, and a Judas Kiss.” Afterwards the band started bringing in influence from other genres such as technical metal and grindcore. This led to their much more ambitious and dissonant, final release, an EP titled “Evolution.”
Start Today called it quits in late 2004, and played their final/renunion show at the Punxsutawney Community Center on Dec. 29, 2005.
