Nick Ogawa is a classically trained cellist and released his first independently-published album, Introduction in 2007. It combines a variety of styles and influences, ranging from the folk/bluegrass classic "Shady Grove," to original modern-classical instrumental songs "Thursday" and "Fishin'," to blues influenced "Deeper than the Vine," and pop ballads "To the Stars" and "Pretty Fix." In 2011, he released his follow up album Exposition. The 12 track album has 4 instrumental tracks (Exposition, Drift Along, Black Stallion, and Greeneries) that expand on the modern classical sound from Introduction. The 8 vocal tracks range in style, with pop ballad "Jigsaw," to folk influenced "Thin Ice," and the more rhythmic style of "Light the Flame," "Method and the Masses" and "Excuse Me," while "Darkest Before the Dawn" is produced in the most modern production style, with many vocal and cello layers.
