Born in 2001, Team Mascot's sound is a melding of influences that have been built up over years of listening and studying all forms of music. From Michael Jackson and Prince to The Minutemen and Elvis Costello, it's all somehow entwined in the music Team Mascot writes and plays. Throw in an incredible love of beer, and that pretty much sums up the Mascot.

From Michael Jackson and Prince to The Minutemen and Elvis Costello, it's all somehow entwined in the music Team Mascot writes and plays. Throw in an incredible love of beer, and that pretty much sums up the Mascot.
The band began when David Castellanos (guitar/keys/vocals) and Tom Gilhuley (drums/vocals) first met in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2001. There, the duo wrote and recorded a 15-song demo with bassist Brendan VanderMei that never saw the light of day. Shortly after that recording, Gilhuley moved back to his hometown in Long Island in late 2001.
Castellanos and Gilhuley reunited in 2004 in Gainesville, Florida and began writing and recording again. During their 5- years in Florida, Team Mascot rocked with several bass players including Chad Rogers ( on "It's A Sweater!"), Justin Tzuanos (from Building the State) and Michael Gualtieri (on "Prost!" and a currently unreleased album still being worked on).
Team Mascot members David Castellanos and Tom Gilhuley have since moved back to the Bay Area, and are again working with bassist Brendan VanderMei and new addition Erin Weldon (guitar/keys/vocals). New recordings and shows are in the plans. Stay tuned.
