There are at least two artists with the name Tenebrae: 1.) Tenebrae is a Japanese Visual kei band which formed in 2024. History: Tenebrae began in April 2024 under the name KOKORO NO YAMI project (ココロノヤミproject). The group held its first demo live on May 4, 2024, at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU before officially rebranding as Tenebrae on June 11, 2024. On the same day, the band released Kotonoha, followed by Yugami in July. During the group’s early activities, drummer Kaito was temporarily unable to perform due to hospitalization on July 29, 2024, leading support drummer DO (ド) to participate in live performances beginning with a show at Shinjuku club SCIENCE. Tenebrae held its first official live performance on August 11, 2024, at Ikebukuro EDGE, marking the formal start of the band’s activities. The band continued releasing material throughout 2024, including Saigo no Hanabi, Itami no Ame, and COLEUS no Yuutsu. In December 2024, drummer Kaito formally departed from the group. Shortly afterward, support drummer DO continued performing with the band during live activities, including a performance at Nagoya MUSIC FARM where guitarist Nagi was absent. Tenebrae remained active in 2025 with a rapid series of releases such as Requiem, Blind..., NOISE Shoukougun, Risou to chiru。, and Kyoumei. In July 2025, guitarist Nagi entered an indefinite hiatus, with guitarist Daiki (だいき) joining as a support member. The band later released Omake no jinsei and -Anivis- before Daiki officially joined on September 8, 2025, adopting the stage name Godzilla (御白). On December 21, 2025, guitarist Mave departed the band following a live performance at Shinjuku club SCIENCE. In March 2026, guitarist Yukika Kaguya (雪華 輝夜) began supporting the group before officially joining the lineup on May 13, 2026. Shortly before his official addition, Tenebrae released WORLD END on April 27, 2026. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2.) Tenebrae is a professional chamber choir, founded and directed by Nigel Short. Often performing by candlelight, the choir creates an atmosphere of spiritual and musical reflection, where medieval chant and renaissance works are interspersed with contemporary works. The carefully selected team of singers uses the acoustic and atmosphere of the building to enable the audience to experience the power and intimacy of the human voice at its best. Singers are drawn from outstanding musical backgrounds – King’s College Cambridge, Westminster Abbey and Cathedral, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and English National Opera – to create a unique vocal mix with an extraordinary range of vocal power and colour.
