1) One of the first electronic bands in New Zealand, and hugely influential, The Body Electric was formed in 1982 by Alan Jansson, although he was credited on first releases as Alan Jimson, and Andy Drey. During their initial rehearsals, they were then joined by actor-turned-singer Garry Smith. The group's debut single, Pulsing, was picked up by radio programmers and spent 27 weeks in the charts. Not entirely indicative of their sound, the track has a novelty quality to it. Following the success of Pulsing, Andy Drey was replaced by Spines bassist Wendy Calder and the group released two more minor hits (Dreaming In A Life and Imagination) and a full length album before splitting in 1984.

2) The Body Electric was an American melodic rock group from Colorado, with singer/guitarist Sam Cooper.
The Body Electric's first show, in December 2005, featured, in part, two drummers, a Rhodes keyboard, a Spanish guitar, a mandolin, a violin, a banjo, a melodica and a glockenspiel. This seemingly unlikely combination of sounds was harnessed into a powerful pop performance that foreshadowed what the ever-evolving collective had in store.
The band was originally conceived as a full power space rock outfit and inadvertent tribute to Issac Asimov by singer/guitarist Sam Cooper (formerly of local act Francophone) in summer 2005. After inviting opera student and piano virtuoso Shenandoah Davis to the group, elements of classical music began seeping into the songs, opening the flood gates to a barrage of eclectic genres. The band's current line-up of guitarist Cooper, keyboardist Davis, drummer Josh Moore, bassist Jared Banta, flautist Ethan Brown, saxophonist Andy Rosenberg, and banjo/mandolin player John Benjamin drifts seamlessly through bluegrass, jazz, pop, rock, mariachi, and klezmer while retaining a pop sensibility and genuine love for all of mankind at its root.
The Body Electric recorded at RokBox Analog Fidelity in Boulder with Jason McDaniel, and self-released the five-song The Body Electric EP in August 2006 and has performed frequently throughout Boulder and Denver at venues such as The Laughing Goat, The Folsom St. Coffee Co., The Guitar Cellar, and The Larimer Lounge.
