THE CONFEDERATES are a simple group of guys who enjoy getting together and writing music they enjoy listening to. Each of the members harbour a love for different kinds of music, they are all greatly influenced by the likes of Incubus, City and Colour, Jack White, Red Hot Chilli Peppers. THE CONFEDERATES are a simple group of guys who enjoy getting together and writing music they enjoy listening to. Each of the members harbour a love for different kinds of music, they are all greatly influenced by the likes of Incubus, City and Colour, Jack White, Red Hot Chilli Peppers. When listening to them you can’t help but feel the need to tap your foot or start dancing, they have that feel good notion about them, with lyrics that are relatable and interesting rhythms. Front man Darren Sheldon has been performing in bands since his teens and has an insatiable love for acoustic music, Ryan Sexton too has been playing for numerous metal bands and wanted to break away and do something a little different, this is what brought Ryan and Darren together initially. They both felt the need to create something easy listening, good and simple and started writing songs as THE CONFEDERATES. After playing a few shows in and around Cape Town they asked friend and incredible drummer Breda Weise to play drums for them. The outfit now boast a full set up and have the desire to broaden their sound in the future. If you like Ben Harper, Dallas Green, Brandon Boyd and Jack Johnson you have stepped into a well of beautiful memorable music.
