Hailing from a truckstop oasis at the northern tip of Los Angeles County, The Denizens are not your basic Alternative Rock trio. Formed in June 2004, the group of guitarist Travis Durant, drummer Shane Graham, and bassist/vocalist Robert Montenegro has managed to hone its music into an almost unclassifiable hybrid sound. The Denizens build their music upon the sturdy yet unpredictable foundation of Graham's aggressive drumming while Durant and Montenegro work together to create catchy, energetic, and powerful melodies and progressions. Their sound is almost impossible to label, but the band credits bands such as Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Foo Fighters, Weezer, and The Offspring as direct influences.
Starting off as mere jam sessions, the band quickly became much, much more - eventually evolving to its current form. Since their inception, The Denizens have played a number of gigs and parties in venues such as Cafe Tu Tu Tango at Universal Citywalk and The El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The band looks to spend 2006 playing as many shows possible and professionally recording an EP or LP. In their musical arsenal, The Denizens play about 20 polished original songs and several strong cover songs made famous by artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, and Nirvana.
Travis, Shane, and Robert love to play music and they are extraordinarily hopeful and excited about their future together as musicians. Creating innovative, exciting music is a passion shared by all three members of The Denizens, a group bent on connectiong and sharing their creations with audiences of all ages, social groups and lifestyles.
The Denizens are always up for live performances and will heartily play parties free of any charge. If any band or concert promoter ever needs another band for an open slot, The Denizens will gladly take it. Travis, Shane, and Robert love music and will always make sure that their passion is made evident in their performances, attitude, and lifestyles.
