The Elpis Paradox

The band originally started off with the guitarist Karlin Yudichak and bassist Jerry Bennett in the fall of 2011 as the middle child syndrome. We took some time off due to a move that Karlin took in 2012. After doing some research, Karlin found out that the band name he had created in 2006 got hijacked and was trademarked by a band in Maryland. The band originally started off with the guitarist Karlin Yudichak and bassist Jerry Bennett in the fall of 2011 as the middle child syndrome. We took some time off due to a move that Karlin took in 2012. After doing some research, Karlin found out that the band name he had created in 2006 got hijacked and was trademarked by a band in Maryland. Due to this, Karlin had to come up with a better band name. After doing a bit of research and hard work, he came up with the band The Elpis Paradox. The meaning of the band comes from the Greek tale of Pandora's Box and how after opening the box all hell was unleashed unto earth. The only spirit that was left in Pandora's Box was the Elpis spirit, which means hope in Greek. After days of research on band names online this is the name the band settled on. When Karlin moved back to the NW in July of 2013 there was a full 3 piece band to start the recording process of the upcoming album titled Bedside Stranger. Jerry was with another band before and he had recruited the bassist he played with Nate Burke. Jerry had settled in on playing drums for the band called Roving Eyes. They broke up a few months before Karlin's move back. The band started work on the album from the start of July by practicing and then going into the studio starting in October of 2013. They went into the studio to record 13 songs. Each time they went in with a group of songs they worked on for 3 months at a time. It was an arduous 9 months of practicing and recording to come up with the finished product. They recorded at Perma Press Recordings in Portland, OR with Pat Kearns.
