When you think of a band called the Living Deadbeats, you might expect howling psychobilly. What you get, though, is distorted guitars and cranked up garage rock with grrrl attitude. 23-year-old singer Lindsay Kasting has been compared to Mia Zapata (The Gits) and Penelope Houston (Avengers), and has a little of that Exene Cervenka (X) thing going on; the rest of the band picks up somewhere between the Stooges and the Detroit Cobras. Other members of The Living Deadbeats include London-born, Pete Fiend (previously the lead singer for legendary 80s powerpoppers The Finks, and former bassist of The Fiends) on Bass/vox, Dirty Swagger (Dirty and The Derelicts) on Guitar/vox; and 19-year-old female drummer, Nadja (East Vamps).
The Living Deadbeats have self-released two EPs in 2010, and in August, two songs -Hey Girl/Liar Liar - were released as a digital single by Dirty Water Records (U.K.).
