The Requisite (Seattle, WA):
Started in 2009 by front man Maxwell Royce, "The Requisite" was his new means of creating original music after departing from his previous endeavor "What Keeps Our Eyes Open". With plans of becoming a full band, Max and his old childhood friend Ian Haddow embarked on the long journey that is songwriting.
Once a suitable amount of material had been created, they started hunting for a rhythm section to fill out their sound. Another friend from high school, Billy Fidler, was drafted to play drums, while Scott Hampson filled in on bass. After several shows around the area, for reasons mutually agreed upon, it was decided that Scott would stay with the band only until they had found a suitable replacement for him.
Ian called upon Josh Cole, from his days in high school, to take up bass duties. After another bout with the local scene, playing as many clubs and bars as they could, Ian was let go from the band, with Josh replacing him on lead guitar. Shortly after, due to mounting pressures from school and work, Billy made the choice to leave the band. This found Max back at square one: himself, a lead guitarist, and no rhythm section.
Months went by as Max and Josh auditioned countless drummers and bassists (they even tried out a few keyboard players along the way as well). During this time, they finished putting up a professional website for the band, recorded the acoustic EP labeled Pre-, making band merchandise, and playing several acoustic shows as a duo. Eventually however, posting ads online led them to meet Chris Young, who after his first audition, was immediately selected as the band's new bassist. Shortly following, Jack Love tried out on the drums. After a myriad of drumming auditions, Jack was the obvious choice.
With the lineup solidified for the first time in a little over half a year, The Requisite was ready to again hit the local circuit with force and verve. And that is precisely what they did. With eyes on the horizon, the band began recording their first full length album, and plotting their first tour. Aspirations high, with new material in the works all the time, be expecting big things from this up and coming Seattle based rock group.
The Requisite (UK):
The Requisite is not just a new name for an old band; it's a turning point. Formerly more commonly known as 'SpitFire', The Requisite are a Derbyshire based 5 piece. Their guitar driven music has tones of both classic and modern rock, tones of 80's metal, and even a slight twinge of pop. Expect big, half time, melodic choruses, harmonised guitar riffs, three-part vocals, and an all-round head banging experience. 2007 will bring recordings of both new and current originals, as well as more gigs over the summer months. The main music-writing force behind The Requisite are the two guitarists Alex Rennie and Matt Mason.
