The Warning Track is an alternative pop punk band from Bolingbrook, Illinois. The group consists of James Mathis (songwriter/guitar/vocals), Matt Lorenzen (guitar), Dominick trezza (bass), and Matt Walen (drums). Some influences include New York bands Brand New and Bayside.
James originally played guitar for a 3-piece pop rock group. The band was lacking a bassist, so he recruited Lorenzen for the job. However Lorenzen had never played bass before, so he took 2nd guitar, and the lead singer moved to bass. After the band's first show, their drummer left the band and was replaced by Walen. Following a few more shows, the lead singer left to pursue a solo career leaving James, Matt L, and Matt Walen as Scream Yell Shout.
The new band got by many shows by getting friends from school to fill in on bass. After about a year of playing local venues, house shows, and a battle of the bands at Congress Theater in Chicago, they recruited Dominick Trezza, a long time friend, to play bass. Dominick learned bass for the band, and became a permanent member.
In the spring of 2010, the band recorded a 5 song demo in the basement of lead singer, James', house. With the release of the cd, they changed their name from Scream Yell Shout to The Warning Track.
