Portland, OR, USA (1999 – present) www.theXplodingboys.com theXplodingboys (1999 to present) are a tribute to The Cure. Based in Portland, OR, the band has been playing live since 2002. Originally thought of as a side project, the band has grown up. It played Convergence 13 when it was hosted in Portland. Composed of Cure fanatics, the band plays everything from deep B-sides to pop tunes, 2 Late to Just Like Heaven, Three Imaginary Boys to The Last Day of Summer. The band frequently brings out album tracks and focuses on the early years to entice fans, rather than casual listeners, to keep coming to shows. They play everything from 3IB to Bloodflowers, and also play acoustic shows, a la MTV: Unplugged. Each member brings to the table a different favourite album, a different set of musical background, and a different perspective on what songs need to be played.
