History:
Vigil Wolves was formed in 2013, but the roots of the band can be traced back to the early 2000’s as the majority of it’s members have previously played together in various bands through out the years leading up to Vigil Wolves.
As important figures in the Oregon Coast DIY Metal and Hardcore scene of the 00’s, the members of Vigil Wolves, along with their respective bands at the time, were responsible for helping create and cultivate a very lively youth scene on the Central Oregon Coast that saw shows in local dives and rentals draw crowds of hundreds and bring in bands (and fans) from all over the country.
In 2010, Vigil Wolves members Forrest Burton and Kyle Gilmer joined the Portland based Post-Hardcore band, Verah Falls with Craig Prater, Ty Wenz, and Graham Brown. The group went on to record a five song EP at Interlace Audio with producer Stephan Hawkes.
After local touring, they received attention from the record label BlkHeart Group and signed onto their roster that included Molotov Solution, Destruction Of A Rose and No Bragging Rights.
In June 2011, the band released their debut EP, All Our Yesterdays. In addition, the band’s single, A Family Affair, was released as a playable song on the popular videogame Rock Band 3.
Vigil Wolves member, Jacob Martin joined the band soon after the release of All Our Yesterdays, and toured with the band extensively in support of the album’s release.
By late 2011, all three Vigil Wolves founders had ended their relationship with Verah Falls, and after almost ten years of writing and touring non-stop, they took some time to focus on their personal lives and explore other interests.
In 2013, the three regrouped, and began to write together again. They soon invited bassist Leland Loomis, and old friend, vocalist, and previous band-mate, Bryan Lynch to join them in collaborating on material as a new band, Vigil Wolves.
A selection of those songs would make it onto their debut EP Vacant Hands, which was recorded and produced independently by the band, and engineered by Guitarist Kyle Gilmer in his home studio. It was released digitally on June 24th, 2014.
