Orange County, California’s VULTURES UNITED may possibly be the saviors of the almost non-existent Southern California punk/hardcore scene. Not many punk and hardcore enthusiasts have seen a band this explosive in years. Inspired by 80’s punk hardcore acts Black Flag and Minor Threat, they also draw influences from 90’s punk and hardcore acts The Nerve Agents, Swing Kids, The Murder City Devils, Refused, Dead Low Tide, Kid Dynamite and even more current acts like The Bronx, Hot Snakes, Every Time I Die, The Hives and Some Girls.

Of course, these are all just influences. Roll all of those bands up, add a suburban upbringing, real life frustrations like having to grow up and be responsible, having a full time job, going to school to make something of yourself and just living the American nightmare, and there you have it. The reality of VULTURES UNITED: Destroyed amplifiers, guitars through windows, smashed drums and blown out vocal chords.
There are those who follow and those who forge their own path. Not to say they didn’t get a little help from their friends. UK (and Epitaph Records/Warner Brothers Records) sensations GALLOWS, took them on the West Coast leg of their United States headline tour, amongst the ranks of This Is Hell (Trustkill Records) and Canada’s Cancer Bats. They recently embarked on their first ever tour of the United Kingdom with friends, The River Card from Stoke, UK. In their short run, the band has achieved some amazing things that most bands don’t get to do in a lifetime. A quick example: On their UK tour in London, they did a BBC Radio 1 session at the legendary studio Maida Vale (home to the classic Peel Sessions) for the radio show “Lockdown” with Mike Davies, where you can often hear Mr. Davies playing their songs. They’ve shared the stage with some amazing bands, the aforementioned GALLOWS, THIS IS HELL, CANCER BATS, THE BRONX, PAINT IT BLACK, BLACKLISTED, CEREMONY, DEAD TO ME, LEATHERFACE, COBRA SKULLS, 400 BLOWS, NARCOLEPTIC YOUTH, SMOGTOWN, MIKOTO, 16, DEAD SWANS and many more.
Add some serious supports from some of punk rock foundations which have included great reviews from AMP Magazine, Big Wheel Magazine, air play from both XM Radio’s Fungus Punk Rock Show and BBC Radio 1’s Punk Rock Show with Mike Davies, an endorsement as an officially sponsored Gods Girls.com band and an invite from punk/hardcore all star membered band Bullet Treatment, where VULTURES UNITED singer Jordan Salazar, sang lead vocals on Bullet Treatment’s newest 7 inch release. The quick rise of this band can only be explained through their originality and honestly. Haircuts, clothes, scenes and songs about girls is something the band can care less about. One of the goals they’ve always held in high regard has been to try and do things different and fresh. And although the band has not re-invented the wheel, they’ve certainly found ways to make it spin faster and forge ahead. VULTURES UNITED is true punk/hardcore in every aspect, tipping their hats to past hardcore bands and forging ahead, the way they see fit. Join them, as they prepare to storm the masses with their sonic sound, worldwide. This band will incite a new ideal as to what hardcore punk can accomplish with their latest release “Dirt Hearts”.
Coming soon for the band is an EP titled “The Healers” that they put together in time for The Fest 7 in Gainesville, Florida (October 3st, 2008), followed by a yet untitled debut full length to come out before the end of 2008!
