There are at least two notable bands called Wormwood: 1.) A Swedish melodic black metal band from Stockholm. 2.) They released their first EP in March 2015 categorized by a combination of abrasive vocals and harmonic backing vocals with an emphasis on Rock n Roll riffs and melody, but have since transitioned to an atmospheric and cinematic melodic black metal style. Their first album, Ghostlands (2017) was a mix of Folk, Black, Melodic, and Atmospheric black 'n' roll, leaning heavily into the folk elements. Since then, they have allowed the folk elements to take a step into the background, and have developed a sound that incorporates all of their influences, and adding some Blue influences in their guitarwork. Wormwood is a Boston-based supergroup, featuring members of Doomriders, The Red Chord, and Phantom Glue, which traffics in high-volume, heavy-lidded doom jams that prove equally trippy and terrifying. The band was originally conceived as a two-man endeavor between frontman Chris Pupecki and drummer Chris Bevilacqua (both of Doomriders); following 2014's eponymous debut, they linked up with Mike Gowell (Phantom Glue) and multi-instrumentalist Greg Weeks (The Red Chord), doubling their ranks as well as their ferocity.
