When The Future Was Now! Episode 2 Feast your x-ray eyes and intergalactic ears upon Portland’s first sci-fi cinema themed music festival, When The Future Was Now! Each Wednesday in November a stellar array of artists will embark upon futuristic odysseys exploring themes and attitudes inherent to five distinct decades of science fiction cinema. Episode 2 - 1968 - Edge of Aquarius (Wed Nov 9th) will emphasize the mod styles and heady themes of films like 2001, Fahrenheit 451 & Alphaville. Witness a perfect storm of psychedelic exploration from three of Portland’s headiest bands, with the additional presence of author John Shirley, credited by William Gibson as “cyberpunk’s patient zero” in addition to winning the Bram Stoker Award and writing lyrics for B.O.C. Zozma, Quiet! featuring John Shirley, and Galaxy Research are scheduled to perform, with oil lamp projections provided by Eli Savage. *Free to those dressed as astronauts, Russian spies, psychonauts, space hippies or star children!
