Vanishing Point is a new monthly series exploring musical styles, movements and personalities through live improvisation. Each month an ever-changing array of carefully curated musicians seasoned in the brave art of live improv will perform two epic sets, deconstructing individual songs by two different artists to a near infinite point, with a hypnotic assortment of psychedelic projections to accompany the ride. On Monday, May 1st the intrepid improv warriors of Vanishing Point will transverse the unique terrains of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here and Black Sabbath’s Paranoid with many questions in mind. Is a Floyd vs. Sabbath dichotomy as simple as prog vs. metal, art school vs. blue collar, London vs. Birmingham or pink vs. black? What are the intricate differences between two iconic songs from these titans of rock ’n’ roll?
