  1. Pirates, Poetry and the Packers: the funky, funky accordions of Northeast Brazil

    What happens when Brazilian outlaws mix salsa with polka, pile it high with percussion, add the heart-rending Portuguese poetry of “The Brazilian Hank Williams?”

    Dance, of course! Kees ‘a’ knockin’, in a honey-knickers two-step that would make the Green bay Packers blush like schoolgirls. It's hard to believe that this infectiously danceable music was once the theme music for a ruthless band of cangaçeiro 'pirates.'

    z’Bumba plays forró, rowdy roots music from Northeastern Brazil. You don’t need fancy costumes or high heels to dance to this music, just a smile, some style, and a stranger.
