There are at least 5 bands/artists with the name Amelia:
1. Amelia was a pop group. Teisha and Scott met first in 2001. They started playing duo gigs and recording songs on a 4-track. When they had enough songs together they got Scott's former bandmates Jesse Emerson (upright bass) and Richard Cuellar (drums) to play shows and record the first record, "Somewhere Left to Fall…" (released in 2003). Amelia's first album was recorded by Mike Coykendall of the Old Joe Clarks. He engineered, co-produced, and played piano and other instruments on the recording. Mike's friend and bandmate Mark Orton, also of the Tin Hat Trio, added keyboards, accordian, etc. Jess was playing with the Decemberists until he quit to be in Amelia full time and the band released a second studio album (also with Mike Coykendall) called "After All" in 2004 and a live recording called "Por Avion" in 2005. After that, Richard left to tattoo full time. Steve Moretti started playing drums, Jesse switched from bass to piano and Michael Papillo started playing bass. The band is currently recording a third full-length album with producer Mark Orton that will be completed in early 2006. For now, Amelia is a trio. Jesse is back on bass, Scott on guitar, and Teisha on drums.
2. Amelia was a rock band from Uruguay. Formed in 2005, with main members Bianca Visconti (vocals, guitar), Ezequiel Rivero (guitar), Gonzalo Denis (bass) and Guzman Risso (drums), they just released his first full length, with collaborations from several singers from well-known bands from the Uruguayan Scene.
3. Amelia is a singer from Iran.
4. Amelia was a 5 piece post-hardcore band from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The band consists of Ryan MacDonald Screaming/yelling/singing to sweep ladies off their feet. Chris Johnson and Jake Gascon riffin', Will Trembley slappin' strings, and Dylan Maxwell hitting skins. There Magical story all started after December 3rd 2005, after Thrice and Circa Survive played their hometown of Thunder Bay. Ryan asked Dylan if he wanted to start a band, and In January 06 the first attic jam sessions happened, with Ryan (vocals/guitars, Dylan (drums), Will (bass), and Richard (guitar) who left later on for undisclosed reasons). Soo having Richard leaving left the boys with out a second guitar player. While they searched, they went to Rob Nickersons Studio to record there first Myspace/PureVolume demo, "Guitar Strings and Car Crashes".
Shortly after recording, they found Chris Johnson (guitar). With the line up standing as, Ryan - Lead vocals/guitar, Chris - Guitar/Backup Vocals, Will - Bass, and Dylan - Drums/Backup Vocals, they were ready to play shows and continue recording. After playing many shows and opening for bands like A Textbook Tragedy, As I Lay Dying, Callahan, and Rosesdead, recording an ep entitled "Take Two and Kill Me in the Mourning", shooting a music video for "Guitar Strings and Car Crashes", things started to get stale. So when things get stale things need to change right? And yes they did. They asked friend Stuart to be the new screamer allowing Ryan to sing clean vocals and play guitar, and after three shows, a band consensus was agreed that Stuart did not fit in and on good terms Stuart left the band. The boys played with the original line up once more one January 10th, and realized that they lost their edge. This left the band looking for something new, so they continued to work on finding a new screamer, after weeks of searching, they thought, "why don't we just find a new guitarist?, why do we need a screamer when Ryan can scream?" and soo then the search was out for a new Guitarist, only a few people replied and after two days of tryouts, Jake Gascon proved to be the man for the job, and after two band practices the full new line up played there first two shows in one weekend, and they went over quite well. Now the boys are working on a new kick ass sound, writing their new record, and are going to record demos in late spring, and another music video should pop up sometime soon. keep an eye out.
