South London's Jimmy Robinson is 'Big Pretty': this is his truth about feeling uncertain, like a phantom struggling with life and love in the busy world of 2019.
Jimmy found his first successes as a singer & guitarist at the age of 15, playing Reading Festival. By the time he was 17, his self-managed project 'First Strike' played at Download Festival, and seemed destined for rock stardom. Label success was elusive, and Jimmy eventually retreated from the limelight to create something fresh. He emerged as a member of London's 'Bad Names', honing his live experience, and quietly crafted his own new sound in his bedroom with the help of his new musical collaborators Jack Lonergan & Harry Evans. Soon Jimmy threw the music out to the world with their help.
The resulting music is defined by an emphasis on forlorn lyrics, syncopated rhythm, manipulated vocal sounds & a keen sense of melody. 80s & 90s influences from INXS to George Michael are distilled through the rhythmic lens of UK R&B from Jorja Smith, & a sense of bombast garnered from Kanye West and The 1975. Big Pretty's 'pure pop' is the result.
Follow-up single ‘Never Be’ due to be released June 2019, with a further single dropping in August 2019. Please contact for details on press.
