Mangfald is a Hillsboro, OR based quartet that plays alternative rock drawing from various genres. The band began playing in 2003 when all members were in junior high. The then-unnamed band began their musical careers by covering Misfits and composing similiar simple three-chord progression punk tunes. The cacophony produced was sickening. After a year or so of playing together, the band began to make real progress as individual musicians and as a group. A permanent drummer was found as Wil's younger brother Kevin took up the sticks in 2004. The simplistic punk style was abandoned, and a unique style drawing inspiration from roots music, especially the blues, was developed. Mangfald has since been playing regular shows in the Portland area, and released their first full-length album in December 2008, directly before original member Justin Movick left on a super-secret mission in Mexico. Recent evolutions in Mangfald's sound include heavier and more psychedelic tones, creating a more mature, unique sound. The plan is to record new material in May/June 2009.
