Formed in 1986 as a side-project of Napalm Beach's Chris Newman, Snow Bud was inspired by 60's garage rock and psychedelia. It features fuzz-wah, reverb-washed guitars, and stoner lyrics celebrating the "sacred herb."
The first two albums (Snow Bud and The Flower People, Vegetable Matter) were both released in 1986 on cassette. Later albums appeared on compact disc. Snow Bud was featured in the August 1991 "High Times" centerfold, with a graphic review/interview by John Holmstrom.

The first two albums (Snow Bud and The Flower People, Vegetable Matter) were both released in 1986 on cassette. Later albums appeared on compact disc. Snow Bud was featured in the August 1991 "High Times" centerfold, with a graphic review/interview by John Holmstrom. Singles were released by High Times (Amsterdam/Pot Tattoo 1992) and Sub Pop (Killer Bud/Third Shelf 1992). Many of Snow Bud's releases feature comics and/or cover art by Chris. Two Snow Bud comics (by Chris) were published by Flying Heart, and one lost by C/M Shinola. The most recent yet-to-be-released album, "Flashback" was recorded / mixed at Jack Endino's studio in Seattle, WA February 2010.
Since the mid-90s, Snow Bud and the Flower People has been: Chris Newman on guitar/vox, Lance Paden on drums, and Nathan Jorg on bass. Past band members have included Sam Henry (Wipers, Napalm Beach) on bass/keys, Andrew Loomis (Dead Moon, Shiny Things) on drums, Greg Slyter on bass/drums, Nancy Loffler on bass, Jeff Roth drums/keys.
