The Clampdown
(New Jersey)
For the last few decades, punk rock and New Jersey have gone together like ice and water. Some of the greatest bands and songs lay claim to NJ... The Clampdown, hailing from small town New Jersey streets that gave rise to the likes of Bruce Springsteen and others, started their chapter of NJ music history in early 2005.
Formed out of NJ punk bands: Empty Handed NJ, Take Today and Final Fiasco. They create sound that nods to artists like hometown heroes, Bouncing Souls as well as artists like Alkaline Trio, Social Distortion, Avail, Lawrence Arms and of course The Clash. The Clampdown do not adhere to one style of punk rock however... The varied influences of this band will run the gambit between high powered full on punk rock, midtempo pop punk and even some old school hardcore thrown in for a sound, while not entirely new, is unique in its own right. In an evermore stagnant underground music scene in NJ, Dominated by thickheaded moshmetal, sappy teeny-bopper emo and pretentious "indie" rock, The Clampdown are doing their own thing and playing by their own rules. Punk Rock is Back
The Clampdown has a 7 song cd available in trash cans all around the northern Burlington County area
The Clampdown disbanded in September 2008. Members went on to be in my sloppy left overs and then The Excitement Gang and back to Take Today
