The Get Down

The story of The Get Down is still a young one, but is drenched in perseverance. After two independently produced albums, relentless gigging and critical acclaim they continue to push on. Having established a deep footprint on the Vancouver indy scene, they're being recognized as one of Vancouver's favorite acts. The Get Down, consisting of Mark Ferraby, James Emerson, Erick Kauko Bullen and Tyson Watt, originally formed in 2005. It all started as a late night, after work acoustic jam, over pints of draft beer at Deep Cove's Arms Reach Bistro. It was clear then that Mark, Erick and Tyson had a synergy, and all that was needed was percussion. Having drummed with Mark and Tyson's previous band "Ask Alice" they knew James was the right man for the job. With each member bringing original songs to the table, the band quickly amassed a solid collection of original material. Theyʼve all brought different influences and genre's to the table; thus, having found that their eclectic stylings attract a diverse fan base. Ranging from skanky reggae music --to folky blues--to heavy metal--and even punk and country twang, audiences still don't know what is coming next! The Get Down has since shared the stage with such acts as Sam Bradley, The Darcys, Giraffe Aftermath and local Vancouver indy legends Big Tall Garden.
