1. The Good Hurt has a sound that’s hard to classify. As a Seattle band in the midst of the alt country and folk dominated sounds of the Northwest music scene – they stand unapologetically apart from their contemporaries somewhere between the lines of pop, soul, indie rock and alternative.
Their first release as JLGH, Slash and Burn (2010) was recorded at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washinton and engineered by Ryan Hadlock (The Strokes, Ra Ra Riot and Metric). The EP went off like a gunshot, marking the initial ambitious strides the band was taking straight into 2010. Among rave reviews surrounding the release of the EP, the music made its way into the headphones of a famous Swedish director and frontman James Lanman was cast in an insurance commercial currently airing across Scandinavian televisions on prime time where Lanman sings a version of Stevie Wonder’s original hit, “Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing.” The popularity of the cover among Scandinavian viewers prompted the band to release an official cover of the song shortly thereafter.
Lanman says of Slash and Burn, “That EP was, at its core, a highly introspective and self reflective body of work – it was about the crossroads of the past and present. Letting go and starting over and finding the strength to move forward.” In a more literal sense, the EP marked a point of departure from Lanman’s days as a solo acoustic act in London, San Francisco and Los Angeles in the new direction of a fuller sound with the addition of the band, comprised of lead guitarist, Max Brockman, bassist Jesse Summers and recent Sabian endorsed drummer, Aaron Ameen.
Through constant touring down the West Coast, the band has amassed a strong fan base in The Bay Area rivaling their fan base in Seattle and recently sold out San Francisco mainstay, Café Du Nord on a Friday night in September with the line out the door. Keith Kanoff, booker for Café Du Nord and The Hotel Utah referenced that particular show as, “One of the best nights of the year!”
Due to the enthusiastic support from fans across the country and newfound fans abroad, the band was able to raise enough money through Kickstarter.com, a crowd sourcing platform that lets fans pledge dollar amounts in exchange for rewards, to fund a 12 state, March of Ides Tour as well as their first full length album to be released July 1st, 2011. The tour begins March 10th in Seattle and will take the band to Austin, TX for a showcase during South by Southwest by way of Boise, Park City and Denver before returning to Seattle via Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Reno and Portland.

2. The Good Hurt were a short lived electro-punk band from Manchester featuring Drongomala (voice, guitar, synth), Sink (bass, synth) and Tree (drums).
Sinik, a cameraman at the time, was hired by Drongomala to film an music and art extravaganza called Electroraga which took place in 4 different outdoor locations in Manchester. Their friendship grew and the band was born in 2006.
With a credo that each song should be fundamentally different from the last one their output shifted from nihilism to caveman and back to rock and pop.
The band laterally brought synths in, after recording their first EP, and Drongomala and Sinik bounced between guitars and electro taking the three piece even further on recordings and live shows.
A month or so after recording their first album they split unacrimoniously - the life of the band having been around a year in total.
They left behind a released EP titled 'Prescription No 1' with the a 'fabled' album that still hasn't seen the light of day.
