1. Zen was a Dutch pop/rock band of the late 1960s, established in 1965 by by Siegfried 'Siebe' de Jong (vocals, saxophone) and Dirk van der Ploeg (guitar, vocals). They are almost exclusively known for their version of the theme song from the musical 'Hair', which made them the perfect 'one hit wonder' in early 1969. Recorded in late 1968, 'Hair' rocketed straight to #1 in the Dutch Top 40 in January 1969.

1. Zen was a Dutch pop/rock band of the late 1960s, established in 1965 by by Siegfried 'Siebe' de Jong (vocals, saxophone) and Dirk van der Ploeg (guitar, vocals). They are almost exclusively known for their version of the theme song from the musical 'Hair', which made them the perfect 'one hit wonder' in early 1969. Recorded in late 1968, 'Hair' rocketed straight to #1 in the Dutch Top 40 in January 1969. The début LP Hair (1969) was an integral cover version of the musical's soundtrack. That year the band was joined by Harry Rijnbergen and Bennie Groen of the recently dissolved RO-D-YS. Rijnbergen penned Zen's second and last hit single, 'Get Me Down', peaking at #26 in The Dutch charts. The band more or less split up in 1970, but resurfaced a number of times throughout the 1970s, in various line-ups, one of which released a second studio LP (Zen Again, 1973).
2. Zen is an alternative rock band formed in Peru in 2002. It was composed of Jhovan Tomasevich as lead singer, Alec Marambio on guitar, Diego Larrañaga in bass ( in 2005 would be replaced by Noel Marambio ) and Giorgio Bertoli on drums . After his successful debut album in 2002 , the band got the attention of national and international media as MTV , being nominated for MTV Latin America 2003 Awards for Best New Artist . They shared the stage with bands as Soul Asylum . The band a mid-2009 dissolves to accommodate individual projects of its members returning on 2013 with a new album named "Aquí y ahora"
3. Zen is an Alternative Rock band that originated in Yerevan, Armenia in 2023. The members of the band are: Hrach Amirkhanyan-Drums Ani Ulbricht- Bass Guitar Eliza Barkhudaryan-Vocals and Violin David Hovhannisyan- Guitar. 4. Zen was also a pioneering Turkish psychedelic rock/krautrock group. Founded in the late 80's in Istanbul, Turkey by Murat Ertel and Merih Öztaylan, this Turkish improvisational psychedelic rock band issued several demo recordings and four albums. These included Derya which was released in the USA under Father Yod-Ecstatic Peace label with the support of Sonic Youth member Thurston Moore. With growing emphasis on traditional Turkish instruments in their music, the band later evolved into Baba Zula in mid-90's.
5. Zen is a Ukrainian dj, who is also the founder of ANTIPOP movement and lead singer of the band Sweet Sixty Nine.
6. Zen was also a Portuguese rock band, founded in Porto, 1996. Albums: "The Privilege of Making the Wrong Choice", 1998; "Rules, Jewels, Fools", 2004.
7. Zen was also a Hong Kong pop rock band active from 1994 to 2000. They released an EP and three albums before disbanding. The lead vocalist Wong Cheung Hing and the guitarist James Tang later signed with Yip Sai Wing's (former Beyond drummer) management company and released an album under the name Purple Nine (九紫).
