The story of the rapper named "Benifit/Benefit" began in 1999 with the creation of a single, raw track: "Proceed With Caution." This lone song, his debut hit and recorded on a tape-deck, took on an unexpected life of its own when it was included on a promotional disc distributed alongside releases like Eminem's 2000 Colaboration and 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin'—a unique slice of pre-YouTube music sharing. After a long hiatus, Benifit quietly returned to his craft around 2006. Revisiting his hobby with a fresh perspective, he assembled 'The Beginnings of an MC,' a collection of tracks that includes a remastered version of his original debut.
