Fast Fox began in its earliest stages way back in 2006, when John started writing the very first lyrics for the band. With the lyrics complete, the band got together and started making music for the first time on December 26, 2007. After years of building a strong musical chemistry with one another, the group released its self-titled, and self-produced demo LP in June 2011 (engineered entirely by Sam). That summer, Fast Fox started playing shows in the Portland-Vancouver area. After garnering a great deal of experience, the band began searching for what’s next. Several sessions were spent in a number of recording studios throughout Portland, but nothing earth-shattering sparked between the band and these particular studios, like the band had hoped for. However, through a twist of fate, the band came into communication with an experienced producer/engineer in Seattle who was a fan of the band’s sound, and believed in their abilities. He also owned easily one of the nicest studios in the northwest, where many established acts had recorded, including Jay Z, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, R.E.M., Outkast, and Wilco. Over the course of December 2012 to March 2013, Fast Fox created the best music of their careers, culminating in a new EP; exactly the kind of spark the band had been searching for.
The new EP “Raised By Wolves” was released on September 1st 2013. It’s an extremely fun and energetic collection of songs, fitting for a summertime release. Fast Fox played the 2013 Portland Battle of the Bands and advanced to the finals, where they played to a packed Hawthorne Theater.
