Love of music and singing comes from her musician parents. Growing up in the Boston area, she learned to combine her love of singing with her love of the piano. At the age of thirteen, she began writing her own songs, later taking part in weekly blues jam at the Acton Jazz Café. Nicole recorded and released a six-song demo, "Rise" in 2006, which put her out on the scene as "a musician to watch." In February of 2008, Nicole finished her debut studio recording, the self-released "Frondescence EP." Every song on the EP has its own individuality but it is the vocal presence, tone and intensity of Berke’s voice that carries the CD. With a unique, soulful sound and lyrics that are poetic and personal, Berke connects with audiences in a powerfully honest and authentic way. Nicole spent 2008 and 2009 playing around the Northeast promoting the new album and signed with KeyMedia Group in early 2009 while continuing to attend school. In September of 2009 Nicole moved to Portland, Oregon where she completed her last year of college at Portland State College with a BA degree in Social Psychology from University of Massachusetts, Boston. Nicole completed her first national tour in August 2010 as a special guest performer with Kiernan McMullan. Visit her website at www.NicoleBerkeMusic.com
