1) A Portland, Ore. New Wave/ Glam Rock band. Different incarnations have existed since 2001, starting with a wedding gig as an alter-ego to leader Viktor Nova's dark synth opera, An Evening With Dot Matrix. In 2009, bassist/keyboardist Kurt Aeon, also a member of Dot Matrix, joined Nova to compose original material for Pink Noise. Guitarist Jake Rose joined after leaving experimental group Childhood Friends. In June, the trio started gigging around the Northwest U.S. with sequencer, fog machine, and stage lights in tow. The group strives to create authentic, original music in the style of 80s New Wave and Synthpop as well as a glamorous, sensational stage show.
2) A local art rock quartet who strives to keep their audience guessing. Standing on the shoulders of bands like the Pixies and fellow NYC groundbreakers Sonic Youth, Pink Noise don't rely on any infectious pop hooks or catchy dance beats.Instead their latest LP, "All Is Nu", produces a tremulous vibe, a feeling, a notion simoultaneously disarming and eerie. Their sound moves nimbly from amorphous, ambient buzz to more traditionally stractured rock with a flick of the wrist. lead singer sharron sulami's voice is reminiscent of PJ Harvey's throuty whisper. Unafraid to keep her voice restrained as long as possible, she waits till the perfect moment to let out a howl. the guitars are colorful but not flushy, adding texture but not pretension. for the full pink noise experience, check out their live show. they are precise almost to a fault, like four musicians playing with a shared brain. the result is tight, complex, and facinating.
3) A solo Electronic music project of Greg Kowalczyk from Hillsburgh ON, Canada. Intimate, friendly, and without boundaries, Pink Noise can be characterized by a strong, elaborate beat underlying an abundance of instruments. Sounds range from the natural and clean, to the synthetic and distorted
4) A Dutch Pink Floyd tribute band from the Nijmegen area.
5)Pink Noise was formed in March 2006 and features Amyt Datta on guitar, Jayashree Singh on vocals, Gyan Singh on bass, and Jivraj Singh on drums and percussion. The music Pink Noise plays is mostly about getting away from tired old formulas. The originals are harmonically and rhythmically challenging, taking as they do, elements from jazz, both mainstream and modern, rock and the blues. The tunes are not formatted like pop songs but evolve as they are played and incorporate constant improvisation which adds to the edgy excitement of the music. The covers that Pink Noise does also come from the world of jazz and jazz-rock and are by cutting-edge artists working outside the confining boundaries of formula jazz and jazz-rock.
6) All women band formed in Bellingham, Washington in 1986, from the remnants of The M.O.'s. Nancy Christensen, guitar; Heidi Mo Hawkins, drums; Karen Gunderson, guitar; Mary Thurtle, bass.
