    The OLCC and the Future of -ALL AGES- Shows.

    IMPORTANT OLCC INFO!. Support the OLCC’s plans to allow music venues to admit people under 21 by writing an email before Friday, March 7, 2008.. Visit PDX POP NOW! and find everything you need to support this issue and make a difference. pc-pdx's summary: Remember the OLCC letter witting campaign from last fall and the possibility of opening up some of the venues to be able to serve the All Ages music community?. Well it failed with a vote of 3-2 against accepting the amendments that would allow for such a change.

    The Return of the Sub Pop Scholarship

    Sub Pop Records in Seattle, WA is offering a grand total of $13,000 worth of college scholarship money to three eligible high school seniors.. There are three scholarships-one for $6,000 and two for $3,500 each.. To apply for these scholarships you must be a resident of Washington or Oregon, and a graduating senior on your way to full-time enrollment at an accredited university or college..     Cristmas Sweater Parties

    Just Don't Do It!I was afraid of this...to revisit last year when every portlander had the sweater party, the hipsters and the punks and every scene in-between.. I'm all about unity, bringing all our different scenes together, but this is not the answer Portland.. Like Journey should be left in 2005, let's leave the Christmas Sweater party in 2007.At Thanksgiving time, the first sweater party show was announced -sigh.. There was worry that it would come full swing, but the sweaters stayed mum - until now which is apparently the weekend to plan your sweater party.

    The So So Glos Postpone Portland for Prague and Poland

    One of our favorite bands, The So So Glos, have scored a sweet European tour with ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.. Sweet deal for them, though that means Portland will have to wait a few more months before the return of these crowd favorites.These guys are pc-pdx crew favorites and are just flatt out hott shit!. Since their first trip to Portland back in November of 2007, these five guys have consistently impressed with their killer shows.. If you've never experienced the magic, do yourself a favor and check them out.

    PDX Pop Now! CD Release Show and Track Listings Announced

    PDX Pop Now! -- Portland's premier DIY music festival, compilation and music advocacy organization - has announced the track listing for this year's compilation and plans for the CD Release Benefit Show.. PDX Pop Now!'s recent sold-out "Make It Pop!" fundraiser saw performances by James Mercer of the Shins, Brandon Summers of the Helio Sequence, Marty Marquis of Blitzen Trapper, Ryan Sollee of The Builders & The Butchers, Loch Lomond and live video DJing by Dantronix and raised $4,000 for PDX Pop Now!.     PDX Pop Now! -- Portland's premier DIY music festival, compilation and music advocacy organization - has begun accepting submissions for its 2011 compilation.. Submissions can be made online at www.pdxpopnow.org and will be accepted through February 28, 2011.PDX Pop Now! is excited to announce the launch of its new website which features new design, photos, outreach information, historical background on the organization, and many different ways to get involved.. PDX Pop Now! will be holding its first 2011 volunteer meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 7-9 p.m. at Backspace.. At the meeting volunteers can apply for the booking committee, sign up to be on the compilation listening, marketing and fundraising committees or to volunteer at the festival.

    Gathering of the Goof Punx - The worlds best DIY festival is coming at you!

    What's the Gathering of the Goof Punx?. Only the finest DIY Festival in the world, and it's happening right here in Portland, Oregon April 5th-8th.. Forget about the corporate shwill of South by Southwest, Musicfest NW, and all other such bullshit - the Gathering of the Goofpunx is a homemade, not-for-profit fest, celebrating DIY culture and music.. Event organizers have a parade planned, a punk rock spelling bee, the world's biggest game of knockout (you know, that schoolyard basketball game!), and a whole shit ton of amazing DIY bands that have never had their music used in a Gap commercial or Navy advertisement.After paying the venues and giving the touring bands some gas money, all proceeds are going to local charities and non-profits.
