This very solid four-piece began writing in the summer of 2011, drawing inspiration from a huge, diverse variety of influences, ranging from pop to metal to punk. The goal was simply to write catchy, heavy music that defied genre classification, and that goal rapidly started to develop into some great ideas.
In the fall of 2011, the band, working under the name “Counterweight”, decided that a second guitarist would help round things out and add some options, so Dan called up long time friend and former band mate Nate Potter (formerly of Bone Orchard, Huffy, American Bastard), and the band was complete. This version of the band, under a new moniker (current), began recording its self-titled first studio release, consisting of 8 songs, in mid-fall of 2011.
With a very strong line-up of veteran players, and the fact that all 5 members have been close personal friends for decades, Sketch the Rest is poised to take on the world. We’re starting by bringing our unique brand of music to live venues around the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. Here we are, Sketch the Rest!
