- we wanted to get out this version now.. The Photo Gallery has been revamped to better suit the Show-Guide,
it's up right now but not completely finished yet.. While you can search the photo sets right now,

The Coop is dead.. After a 17 month run as The Coop, the space moves on and the shows at 3535 N Lombard will cease.. The future of the house is up in the air but according the the Landlord, the house will go in another direction and will not be again leased for the community space that the Lombard house has been running for the last 2 -1/2 years.. The shows will stop at the 3535, but the house may again see old tennants as John Brainard is back in town to possibly open up a coffee shop or hostel... (?)The last show will probably be the Resistance Fest Northwest day #4 show on Sunday, July 12th.

hi all,It's been a long time coming... almost an embarrassingly long time.I started talking about it around this time last year.. The earliest date that i can recall where i said we'd launch was to be New Years day, some of you may been able to nail it on a earlier date than that.ALL said and done, here in internet ink,THE NEW VERSION OF THE SHOW-GUIDE WILL LAUNCH OVER THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!It's looking pretty great, i'm not going to lie - we're very excited to get the new version published and have you guys use it!WHAT'S NEW:Maps and Membership and more!SPEED:The current version in the past few weeks/months has often been slow, sometimes just gone non-responsive (ouch!). The site has been almost completely recoded - it's all 99% fresh to be able to handle to ~15 page views the site is averaging EVERY SECOND.Membership Features! If you happened to have signed up for the current implementation of Membership on pc-pdx, i'm sure you're deeply disappointed.. RURL SORR about that!. Subscribe and Track your Bands/Artists + places:Be alerted, even emailed when your subscriptions have new shows.Save shows to a custom list.Show Tags! -"being able to tag shows by genre would be pretty sweet so people into particular kinds of music could search for shows that way -name"this is the most requested feature of all time and it's finally here.

Hi Hi,The Band Bios and Tags are awesome and are a huge step forward in the coolness and usefulness of this site.. They are also, on occasion, the source of some WTF?! confusion:"Why is my show tagged 'dubstep'?. I'm not dubtep or reggae!""The listing for my band shows the wrong bio - what's up?"Let it be known that we don't actually host any of the band bios or tags at this moment in time.. All of the band bios come from user submitted data from Last.Fm.

I have started doing a show on Radio23's Cascade Community Radio called Land of the Lost: Pacific Northwest Underground and I am seeking some good Pacific NW music to play.. Any genre is ok from punk to folk to spoken word to hiphop... I'll play stuff I like (fortunately I have eclectic taste). Send your high quality MP3s (no less than 192 kbps) to lotlpdx (at) skullmanrecords.com.. It's like a big mixtape, streams on Wednesday nights & will be archived as well.. Attach up to 3 MP3s per mail & write if you have questions or comments or whatever.... x 3rika

"Anyone know what CMS this site is based off of?"This site is 100% custom freshness! It started in 2007 as a hardcoded mess - i literally updated the show listings by hand every night at midnight to remove the old shows.Jan 1st 2008 saw version #2 where we actually got a database and pc-pdx started becoming a real website, the wiki format that it is today - rather than a static mess.~July 2009 came version #3, the Red + Black version where the site really started to take off.. The site started to become more user friendly - we had some hits and misses with features..(membership like features were a HUGE failure) It started getting really slow and cumbersome towards the end of its run because i learned to code along with this site and it hasn't always been the highest preforming, scalable implementation.July 5th 2010 - this current version breached the septic internet womb and came into fruition.. A lot of cool new features were added but now that it's so many months later, i see a lot of places for improvement.. You guys might have seen the "Ohhh shit!

So, this is not Ben but rather pc-pdx, the entity.I wanted to share my love of Laura so consider this hijacked.. When she first played the coop on day one of Resistance Fest Northwest she was there as extension of Bomb The Music Industy! (naturally) and i had never heard her own stuff.. She basically kicked ass and owned it, hard.. I couldn't wait to see her again but i've managed to be out of town for both times she's been through in the two years since the Coop days. Here's where Ben comes into the picture because he has a neat radio show where he gets to bring in rad people like Laura, interview them and have them play a studio session.Ben has packaged up a nice zip of the show which we are hosting (mediefire is evil), grab it!download Laura Stevens and The cans live on KDUPVisit Ben and keep tabs on his projects athttp://upunderground.wordpress.com/

Yep, it's true! All 19,637 flyers went kaputznik and made a super bye-bye action with no recycle bin love of any kind.I am uber careful and paranoid of these things and still manage to pull an epic maneuver like this about once a year. -Last year whilst working on a client site, i deleted the entire four-year calendar set for *two* site for the Solano County Library.. YEAH BUDDY.Yep, So - where we're at now is that i quickly dropped $43 to get some magic (Slingblade)"Should'nta done that boy" software so as i can try to get back the deleted info off the hard drive. -IT was a half win.. I think we got back most of the files but there seems to be an issue where the files that came back did so with different data or whatever : The file names no longer match the actual show info they should contain so SHIT IS BANANANANAS all over the site right now.I have since found a version of the flyers folder in our old svn repo from about 6-weeks ago when we made some reconfiguration changes.. I, in all my awesomeness, didn't get these two flyer related folders back into svn sync (because we're virtualizing the directories to share the data with other sites, NERD stuff..) and totally blew the gun in the face. It's okay though.

One of my favorite bands of all time is playing in town tonight and i feel it is my obligation to boycott.I don't think i could actually bear to see Refused.. The Shape of Punk to Come is one of the best, most solid albums ever released and it never got the justice it deserved with the bands sudden breakup. -That was 15 years ago though.. What if i did actually see this show and it sucked?. I don't know if i could handle that.

Been hanging out at SLABTOWN in NW PDX planning a party (10/27 @ Slabtown!) and am really impressed how the new owner, Doug, is making that place SHINE!! It was always a cool space, but hard to get good dynamics due to the low ceilings and concrete everywhere - 'twas WALL OF RACKET - THIS IS ALL CHANGING.. The stage area acoustics have been adjusted, and the stage has been spruced up and looks good (if you will recall, it used to be a shithole). Furthermore, the kitchen and food look great too - in a nod to SATYRICON'S FELLINI/EAT OR DIE there is a decided Greek/Middle Eastern slant (pita bread, hummus, salads etc), and they offer hand-cut fries as well.. Cheap and vegan-friendly.. Here is the kicker: Starting in November, they are preparing to do ALL AGES shows!
