1) Heathers are twin sisters Ellie and Louise Macnamara from Dublin, Ireland.
Their debut album ‘Here, Not There‘ garnered widespread acclaim internationally amongst both fans and media alike for its unique melodic hooks and extraordinary vocals.
The success of the album resulted in two summer length tours of America on the DIY scene, which developed into further invites to perform at CMJ festival in New York, Canadian Music Week in Toronto, numerous US and European Festival slots including The Great Escape, The Camden Crawl, and support touring with Kimya Dawson of ‘The Moldy Peaches’ and Paolo Nutini for UK and Irish touring.
2012 promises to be a major year for the act having just finished recording their 2nd album with White Lies’ producer Max Dingel and recently signing a deal with Universal Music Publishing UK.
Their debut album, Kingdom, has been shortlisted for the 2013 Meteor Choice Music Prize album of the year, whilst their single, Forget Me Knots, has been nominated in the Irish Song of the Year category.
"Burning, urgent poignancy, dual vocals and catchy
harmonies" - Mischa Pearlman in Music Week
“In a sense, Heathers are the Ramones of folk. Strumming that acoustic guitar with the urgency of a runaway freight train, the dual voices of Ellie & Louise MacNamara soar high” - BBC Across The Line
“An inspiringly simple and singularly brilliant record” – State Magazine
“An astounding collection of 11 acoustic guitar tracks” – Sunday Tribune
2) Heathers is a Los Angeles-based indiepop trio founded in 2013. Michael Franics plays guitar and sings, Thom Lucero plays bass and sings back up vocals, and Mikey W. plays drums.
"Contemporaries are rife, but Heathers are an LA trio with plenty more to give." - This is Fake DIY
"L.A. band Heathers [is] beautifully simple and beautifully visceral." - BlahBlahBlah Science
"With their first official track 'Teenage Clothes,' the harmonies ebb and flow and the early-Slumberland and Sarah Records adoration is beautifully-apparent. Yet nothing is passe about this track, influences are always easy to name but in this case they are mostly drowned out with the freshness of the tune." - Weekly Tape Deck
3) Formed in 2012, Heathers is a Montreal 3-piece that pulls from grunge, punk, and shoegaze to fuel its hard femme visions. Their eponymous 7-song debut is in turns fierce and vulnerable, ferocious and pleading. The contrasting guitars create tension through counterpoint: thick, sludgy riffs are cut with sinuous hooks. The propulsive, melodic drumming subtly pushes and pulls these songs, providing a steady counterbalance to their turbulence. And over all this are the voices: at times raucous, at times gentle and spare.
