As y'all probably know, this show was at the Coop this Saturday, (that's Aug 10th, BTW). We got there late, and kickball was the only band I got to shoot pictures of.. It was packed.. Like, SUPER packed.. Like, 'in the event of a fire we are all gonna die, guys' PACKED.

This last weekend has been an amazing few days at The Coop.. Friday nights show was one of the coolest, and
somehow smoothest house shows we've ever done.. It was a feature in both the Mercury and the WillieWeek which was a bit worrisome.. The last time that happened we had to repaint the bathroom
because of asshole taggers.

I hope you caught The So So Glos this last weekend because it was -amazing-!
I have to say without a doubt, that Saturday's show at The Coop was the most incredable show i've ever seen.. Two of my favorite bands, The Taxpayers and the So So Glos
just killed it.. It was great because i've never been worried about The Taxpayers being able to keep up with any of the other bands...somebody needed to give those boys a challenge!. I could definately tell there was a
strong fire in Rob Taxpayers eyes to bring it after that incredable SSG set.

A Paper Cup Band 01/23 @ Random House PartyThis Minneapolis trio really knows how to kill the party and alienate the sorrostitutes that have never expanded their musical vocabulary beyond Cyndi Lauper and Madonna; good.. However, if you're cool enough to wait the three minute set up time with out making stinkface - you're in money because A Paper Cup Band bring a whole other level of party.. These acoustic anarcho-jug band stylee (you describe them?) guys were tossed last minute into a fashion dance party and pulled it off fluid.. The whole house was stompin' and shakin, booties were bouncing all over the living room.

One of our favorite bands, The So So Glos, have scored a sweet European tour with ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.. Sweet deal for them, though that means Portland will have to wait a few more months before the return of these crowd favorites. These guys are pc-pdx crew favorites and are just flatt out hott shit!. Since their first trip to Portland back in November of 2007, these five guys have consistently impressed with their killer shows.. If you've never experienced the magic, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Playing their first public show, these six kids packed the Coop with a horde of friends and pretty much shook the place to the ground.. Bear Feet brings fresh flavor - straight from the 30's.. These teenagers offer a sort of Ragtime Americana Stand-Up Bass, delicious Jug-band jazz that's thick brewed in 80 year old styles.Lovely twin vocals from the lovely Taylor and Elena run reminiscent of all that's good from the Ditty Bops.. With two members coming from the defunct thrash band Tibetan Beef Garden, the male half of the string section shows amazing diversity in their talent.

The Coop is dead.. After a 17 month run as The Coop, the space moves on and the shows at 3535 N Lombard will cease.. The future of the house is up in the air but according the the Landlord, the house will go in another direction and will not be again leased for the community space that the Lombard house has been running for the last 2 -1/2 years.. The shows will stop at the 3535, but the house may again see old tennants as John Brainard is back in town to possibly open up a coffee shop or hostel... (?)The last show will probably be the Resistance Fest Northwest day #4 show on Sunday, July 12th.

White Fang moves the crowd @ Sound Judgment festival II
Time it was, and what a time it was, it was A time of innocence, a time of confidences Long ago, it must be, I have a photograph Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you - Simon and Garfunkel It's the kind of loss that hits you suddenly even if you should have expected it.. It was inevitable, as most loss is, but it is no less heartbreaking. 17 months after The Coop took over for Brainstains, there will no longer be shows at that address that's been repeated so many times over the last few years: 3535 N.. Lombard.. I, for one, will very dearly miss seeing bands in the space that occupied that address.

So, this is not Ben but rather pc-pdx, the entity.I wanted to share my love of Laura so consider this hijacked.. When she first played the coop on day one of Resistance Fest Northwest she was there as extension of Bomb The Music Industy! (naturally) and i had never heard her own stuff.. She basically kicked ass and owned it, hard.. I couldn't wait to see her again but i've managed to be out of town for both times she's been through in the two years since the Coop days. Here's where Ben comes into the picture because he has a neat radio show where he gets to bring in rad people like Laura, interview them and have them play a studio session.Ben has packaged up a nice zip of the show which we are hosting (mediefire is evil), grab it!download Laura Stevens and The cans live on KDUPVisit Ben and keep tabs on his projects athttp://upunderground.wordpress.com/
