Leaving the Scene cut their teeth on the road nearly a decade ago, playing sweaty all-ages venues to the shouted encouragements of teenage fans, and their commitment to making every set count has only strengthened along the way. Leaving the Scene is currently playing in support of the Hum EP, the band’s first new recording in four years, a more introspective effort than their previous album, In Terms of Resistance. On Hum, the band trades two guitars for one, turns up the bass and drums and leans in close to the microphone, making a set of songs that pulse with urgency and intimacy. The six songs on the EP breathe in their own space, giving silence the same weight as instrument, resulting in an intimate and electrifying listening experience.
