To date Strategy has dabbled in everything from headphone-oriented ambient music to house and dub. Based on a refined studio processes that incorporate multi-tracked live instrumentation, archaic synthesizer equipment, archived recordings of improvisations and band practices, digital sound design, and sound of non-musical origin, Dickow's music is a polyglot solution of genres. Musical quotations, discrete sonic jokes, and skewed musicological impressions are blended into a dream-like, impressionistic musical composite which confounds and compounds music's past, present, and future.

Info from STRATEGY by Rich Malcolmson ...
My old band, Strategy, has its origins in garage/school/college bands dating as far back as the early 1980s in Edinburgh, Scotland with myself (who moved between drumming and vocal duties over the years, depending on the availability of good singers or drummers) and the guitarist, my longtime friend and songwriting collaborator, Paul Rogers (no, not that Paul Rodgers...he has a 'd' in his name :). The first real demos we cut in the mid/late 80s had myself then Ray Wilson (ex-Stiltskin/Genesis) on vocals while I drummed in both lineups. Keys by Adam Kopystinski and bass by Glenn Ketchen. Sound Engineering by Ian Beveridge (now doing sound w/ Foo Fighters). Those songs were largely co-written by me and Paul but arranged by all band members. There are a couple of rather good tunes on those demos (Heart, Body and Soul and Silver Shadows), along with some stuff that shows us still learning how to write/arrange/play. Right at the end of the 80s, the line-up had me on vocals and Ian Mouat on drums (he replaced a guy called Allan Emslie who we toured with but never recorded with). We recorded a couple of excellent demos with that line-up but again failed to secure major label/deal interest. The songs on the later of those 2 demos (One More Lie, Carrie-Anne, Cry Wolf) were keyboard-written by me then had the whole band work on the arrangements. The earlier demo's tunes (Moth To The Flame and Homeward Bound) were more me/Paul writing them and the whole band arranging.
