MTV (EmptyTV) nods a sulute to Portland

Empty-TV gives it up for Portland with a few small vignettes on the incredible PDX scene.. They focus on the standard hip bands like StarFucker, YACHT, Southern Belle and the oh-so obvious Thermals but also reach out to the always awesome band Eat Skull.. This is not exactly a good representative cross-section on the many genres and sub-scenes that Portland has to offer but it's still kind of cool.. PC-PDX.com : Portland Show Guide Next time how about something including Autistic Youth, Red Dons, Estranged and the rest of the punker scene?

Murder City Devils @ Roseland

This show was weird.. It was at the Roseland, where I had heard you couldnt bring in cameras, especially "professional" ones (ie anything that has a detachable lens). So I ended up getting a 'photo pass' from the really nice guys in the band Past Lives, who I had seen before, and were the opening band that night.. This meant that I got to go in this little like 4 ft. section between the crowd and the stage that was roped off, and take pictures, with my 'photo pass'.. Of course, the stage is like 5 ft. tall, and the bands are really far away, and the 'photo pass' only allows you to be in the special roped off VIP section (which I learned later was basically meant for the bouncers to stand in and catch crowd surfers before they reach the stage-- HOWEVER--one really athletic and insane chick managed to jump all the way from the balcony onto the stage and give Spencer Moody a hug, before the bouncers realized what she had done) for 3 songs.

Tessa suggested I try to find a show.. The Damage Done were kind enough to let us open last minute.. The GRNSTR House was small and pretty well packed before things got started.

PDX Pop Now! -- Portland's premier DIY music festival, compilation and music advocacy organization - has announced the track listing for this year's compilation and plans for the CD Release Benefit Show.. PDX Pop Now!'s recent sold-out "Make It Pop!" fundraiser saw performances by James Mercer of the Shins, Brandon Summers of the Helio Sequence, Marty Marquis of Blitzen Trapper, Ryan Sollee of The Builders & The Butchers, Loch Lomond and live video DJing by Dantronix and raised $4,000 for PDX Pop Now!. Everyone thought the fund raiser went well so we decided to do it again.. In December we had another fund raiser and generated $200 and bought and donated six of the same sleeping bags.

Portland music fans will be pleased to find out that PDX Pop Now! has announced the track listing for the sixth installment of their much heralded compilation.. The 2-disc set is stacked with 40 tracks from some of Portland OR's finest musicians, including previously unreleased tracks from Menomena, Talkdemonic, Dharma Bums, Blitzen Trapper, and more.. Deelay Ceelay, Tope, The Angry Orts and The Great Mundane have been tapped to perform at this year's CD Release Benefit which will be held June 3rd at Holocene (1001 SE Morrison St.). The cover is $10 and that will include a copy of the 2010 PDX Pop Now!. Compilation CD.

Transient in head on collision - needs your help in getting home and for medical bills!

On their way to Savannah, Georgia yesterday, Transient was in a head on collision when an SUV flew over the medium and landed on them.. Krysta had to be airlifted to the hospital.. We are all relieved that they are alive and doing ok.. Krysta had to have surgery on her wrist and her hip put back into place.
