1) Moodring is an alternative metal band that calls itself an "entity", featuring current and former members of Culture Killer[/arist], Silence, and PSYCHO-FRAME. Their ambition is to ''create music with no ceiling''.
In a interview about their debut EP Showmetherealyou, frontman Hunter Young said: ''I grew up on the alternative bands of the 1990s. No matter what new interests might come and go, I am forever drawn back to the classic albums of that era; they feel larger than life, not bound to a fad or trend – timeless. That’s what we aspire to with our band, to create songs that can transcend any scene.''
In 2023, Young revealed that he is neurologically and physically ill, and how Moodring would be ceasing any touring indefinitely, per orders from his doctors. His illness greatly influenced his working process, and it's why he has since started calling Moodring an "entity" instead of a regular band, with Young doing most of the work himself and asking other people to come in whenever he sees it fit.
Moodring's first project after this change was their second LP death fetish, released on March 27th, 2026. Young has referred to it as "more than just music to me" and a "incredibly personal and dark album about me literally dying".
A third LP has been also been teased.
2) Moodring is a project from Rollerball members Monte Allen and Mae Starr. They play psychedelic rock with hints of post-jazz and doom.
